Emily Navar, RYT PDF Print E-mail
Emily Navar, RYT began practicing yoga in 1988 while a professional dancer in New York. She started teaching yoga in 1992 and as a means to further her understanding of the body became a licensed massage therapist in 1993. Before moving to Mexico, Emily taught yoga in the greater Seattle area for 12 years. She also taught anatomy for several yoga teacher training programs including Pacific Yoga Teacher Training with Theresa Elliott and Kathryn Payne, Hatha Yoga Center Teacher Training with Bob Smith and Ki McGraw, and at Sadhana Yoga with Jo Leffingwell.

Her classes are Iyengar influenced and emphasize grace, strength and precision. Her knowledge of anatomy and the body enables her to work safely with students who may have injuries or conditions.

In addition to yoga, Emily is a long time student of Ayurveda, Yoga's sister science. Most recently she completed a 700 hour curriculum course at the Ayurvedic Institute in Albuquerque, NM studying directly with Dr. Vasant Lad, BAMS. Her studies included Ayurvedic principles and philosophy, anatomy, clinical skills and ayurvedic yoga. She currently consults with clients individually in the US and abroad, sharing Ayurvedic tools for empowering them to take charge of their own healing and well being.

Emily and her husband Alfred are the owners of Hotel Macan ché Bed & Breakfast. In September 2005 they moved to the Yucatán to operate the hotel in the colonial city of Izamal (near Mérida). In addition to hosting guests at the hotel their vision is to offer a space for retreats and workshops where participants can explore their practice surrounded by the archeological wonders of the Mundo Maya (Mayan World).
